1968 CHEVY CAMARO RS/SS 396 ROTISSERIE RESTORATION

This car is a very nice rotisserie restored 1968 Camara RS/SS 396 with power steering and power brakes.  This is the kind of car you can take out for a nice afternoon drive, to the car show, or out to the drags.  This is not a numbers matching car so you can drive it and enjoy it or personalize it to your own tastes.

The car was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. I have pictures showing the steps of the restoration process.  I replaced the lower passenger side rear quarter panel and several floor pan pieces, I also replaced the upper metal dash support, and the trunk floor.  I think that overall the body was in good shape.  The front clip was in average shape; it had some dents and very minimal rust.  The body was primed and worked.  After the body work was straight, the body was preassembled to get all panels alligned and gaps even.  The car was then disassembled, flipped over, and the bottom sprayed with black epoxy primer to give it rust protection and a clean look.  The car was sprayed with four coats of factory Code Y - Butternut Yellow, then three coats of clear.  The car was wet sanded, buffed and polished to a bright luster.  All the exterior chrome, emblems and lenses were replaced with new high quality pieces.  The black vinyl top was installed and factory black stripes were applied to the nose, fenders, and doors.  A new spoiler was installed on the rear deck.

The engine is not the original, but is an era correct 396, heads & block date coded 1971.  It  has been bored .040 over but other than that rebuilt to stock 325 hp specs with factory cast iron intake manifold and a new remanufactured quadrajet carburetor.  The motor was painted Chevy orange with a set of factory era correct chrome valve covers.  The engine bay was restored to a factory look.  The car has a rebuilt TH400 automatic transmission and a stock torque convertor, a GM 12-bolt rear end with a 3.08 gear ratio and open differential, power steering and power brakes.  The suspension has all new coil springs and leaf springs (for the SS big block) and urethane bushings.  New brake lines, fuel lines and hoses were installed as well as a new fuel tank and sending unit.  It has the disc/drum power brake combo with the following new parts:  brake booster, master cylinder, 4 piston calipers, hardware, clips, rotors, hoses, shoes and cables.  The car has cast iron exhaust manifolds, a factory aluminized 2.5 inch dual exhaust with a cross flow muffler that sounds very healthy.  The tires are new BF Goodrich radial TA white letter tires (195/70-14) on a set of factory 14 x 6 rally wheels, centers and rings.  It has a new spare and new trunk mat.

It has an all new Tuxedo Black deluxe interior with houndstooth seat covers.  There is new foam in the front seats and new springs on the drivers side front seat.  New headliner, carpet, door panels, dashpad, console and guages (with tic-toc-tach) were installed.  It has a working AM factory radio.  I installed asphalt sound deadening pads in the floor.  The car comes with a Grant steering wheel, but I do have a factory steering wheel that is included.  I added seat track extenders on the drivers seat to make it easier to get in and out with the non-tilt steering column.  (I am 6'8" tall so this was a great help).

I ordered and installed a new complete factory RS (hideaway) headlight system. There is all new wiring throughout so you don't have to worry about 40+ year old wiring.  The car has a new grill and bright work up front as well as new bumpers front and rear.

I have the receipts for over $20,000 spent in new parts purchased for this project.  I can include a CD of pictures of the restoration process for the buyer.

I will accept a deposit only via pay pal.  Full payment in cash or with a cashiers check that must be approved by my bank.

Delivery is available in the continental US at $1.50 per mile one way, paid in advance.  I prefer questions emailed through ebay but you can call Dave at .
